Pivot sprinkler irrigators and irrigation systems that utilize gated pipe for row-irrigation depend upon debris and sediment free water to insure that small nozzles and outlet gates will not plug and erode. Ditch and stream-fed irrigation systems usually contain moss, sticks, and course sediment which, when left unscreened, will plug pumps, nozzles, and gated pipe.

All of these debris can easily be eliminated by running intake water over a Coanda Effect screen. In addition to this debris, the screens also remove weed seeds from the irrigation water. The utilization of this screened water reduces operation and maintenance costs and greatly improves the efficiency of uniform water distribution.

Where side-hill ditches are utilized and sufficient head is available, the water can be run through a screen box mounted beside the ditch. Where there is non-sufficient head, the screens can be mounted on the down-stream side of a small check-dam located within the ditch. The outlet pipe of the screening device can then be run through the ditch bank to either a pivot sump or a water distribution pipe.

Hydroscreen will work with the smallest diversion to insure that the customer gets what is required to efficiently operate either a pelton turbine or nozzle type irrigation system. Some customers have reported labor savings that paid for their screens in only two weeks, not to mention the satisfaction in knowing that the screens will not plug, even during the heaviest rainstorm and during the resulting runoff.

For small argicultural diversions, the Hydro-Shear Coanda Effect screen is especially well suited. For diversions of less than 5 cfs, a box mounted flat plate screen with no rolled arc is available.

The box mounted Hydro-Shear screens are available in right or left side discharge mounting configurations, or in double sided discharge of varying lengths as required by the diversion quantity desired. A minimal amount of head is required and the boxes inlets and outlets are built to accept standard irrigation pipe.
